Adrenal Cortex for Animal Use

Adrenal Cortex 50ml

Adrenal Cortex is a potent anti-inflammatory agent that provides some analgesia and a sense of euphoria towards the horse. The adrenal cortex works best when used near the beginning of the event because the duration of the action is very short.

The adrenal cortex makes up the perimeter of the adrenal gland and plays an essential role in regulating homeostasis in the body that provides some analgesia and a sense of euphoria towards the horse.

B12 1000 mcg / ml,
phenylalanine 4 mg / ml,

Adrenal Cortex Injection  as a Supplement

  • Purpose:
Some supplements contain adrenal cortex extract to support the horse's adrenal glands, aiming to improve performance and recovery by managing inflammation and stress.

  • Composition:
These products often combine adrenal cortex extract with vitamins and amino acids like B12, B6, and L-leucine.

  • Uses:
They are marketed for supporting athletic performance, reducing stress, and aiding in recovery after intense exercise or racing.

  • Considerations:
While potentially beneficial, their effects are short-lived. Always consult a veterinarian before using any supplements to ensure they are appropriate for your horse.

The Adrenal Cortex (Anatomical & Physiological)

  • Location:
The adrenal cortex is one of the two main parts of the adrenal gland, which sits near the horse's kidneys.

  • Hormone Production:
    It produces steroid hormones, including:
    • Glucocorticoids (like cortisol): Regulate metabolism, immune responses, and inflammation.

    • Mineralocorticoids (like aldosterone): Control the balance of electrolytes (sodium and potassium).

    • Sex hormones: Such as estrogens and androgens.

  • Role in Stress:
The adrenal cortex is part of the body's stress response system, releasing cortisol to provide energy and prolong alertness.

  • Health Issues:
Primarily adrenal gland disease is uncommon, but conditions like pituitary pars intermedia dysfunction (Cushing's disease) can cause hyperadrenocorticism (excess cortisol).
